Pickup trucks may pickup after New Years Day

The market for pickups has been soft lately, but with the lowered gas prices, we may see a big improvement in sales of pickup trucks in mid 2009. The battle continues with who is better, Chevy or Ford, they both carry the market for pickups although Toyota has been creeping up lately with increased truck sales

Gasoline prices plunge, the 'Smart' car endangered again

It took $4 a gallon gas prices to finally get the Smart car to the US. We've started to see a lot of them rolling around for a couple months in the USA, but now it seems like they may be the next endangered species in the roller coaster oil markets we've been seeing for the last 2 months.

In Southern New Jersey, the price of gas has fallen to half of it's high of over $4 a gallon and now in some towns it is under $2 a gallon in just a short amount of time. What happened to the shortage or the extra usage by China? I guess that was all just a crock. The oil companies made billions and billions in this short gas crisis in America. What happens now to all the environmentally friendly cars that were supposed to be coming out? My guess is that they'll be quietly shelved as the American consumer gets back into their big gas guzzlers and heads down the highway.

The SUV was quickly becoming as scarce as snow in July in Florida, but now it is poised to make a big comeback. Consumers had to buckle down hard as the oil companies started to drain every last cent of spending money from them just to fuel these beasts. This left the consumer with some choices, either spend all your extra money on this high priced gas or seek alternate transportation. No wonder the Amercian economy is in the shape it is in, you can't spend any extra money if you don't have any left. This is what happened with the economy. Will Americans become consumers again? Of course they will, I see the auto markets improving in 2009 barring anything unforseen problems that may come up.

GM pleads for assistance from US Government

The stock prices of American auto makers have all taken a sharp, and steep decline in the last 3 months, most recently in just the past couple of days the stock price of GM and Ford have tanked to all time lows in the last 50 years. The auto makers are telling the government they need a hand out from the government and the US taxpayers.

Where do the legislators draw the line in the most recent decline in the US economy? What do the automakers want? Perhaps a subsidy like the farmers get? I think the economy would be best off by the US taxpayer getting a tax break to buy a new car from either GM, Ford, Chrysler, or Jeep. Give the people the tax credit of $5000 or more and watch them flock to the showroooms especially when gasoline prices have fallen an incredible 50 percent in only a month and a half here in the USA.

We'll see what happens with this issue as it continues to unfold. It will be interesting to say the least. If you're an investor, I think you'll want to buy up some Ford and GM stock now, because they are at all time lows and you may never see this price again for that stock.

Economy continues rough ride for auto makers

The Car and Truck Talk USA show has taken a break, we've stopped doing our show for the past few months, but we aren't finished! Look forward to our next audio show coming soon to this blog!

The economy is still the biggest story of the year when it comes to the automotive market. So many drivers are avoiding the new car showrooms and keeping the vehicles they have. So much so, it's been one of the worst times for car dealers to sell new cars.

Our next show will tell you what to expect this winter and next year when it comes to the car market. We hope you like to show and this blog and would like to have you contact us with your questions and comments regarding your car, truck, or suv, or something you'd like to hear about on our internet radio show.
